A collection of music I would return too during this years pandemic.

Especially when I get creative doing my illustrations, editing or blog writing

  1. Tame impala - Slow Rush - Although I listen to all his albums during this time on repeat, a mention to his newest is needed as “The Slow Rush” was released this year,
I feel this guy literally has some of the realist lyrics that hits my emotion, with all the aesthetics that has nostalgia,
A lot of his songs felt as though they could have been written for this pandemic ironically.
He had such perspective that felt so relevant to what’s going on right now.

2. Cage the Elephant - Social Cues, Although again, I actually like all their stuff but newest album released 2019 which followed me into 2020. I got to see them just before the lockdown at Ally Pally ( Alexander Palace - London- Feb 22nds) I have seen them a couple times before hand. This is one of my favourite bands I share with Kyle.
We also saw King Krule that same week at Prism in Kingston that same week.

Anima - Tom Yorke - atmospheric and had such a mood I get lost in it. Love the short film that also was filmed alongside a few of the tracks (“Not the News”, “Traffic”, and “Dawn Chorus”) this is still on Netflix.
It has a dystopian influence that feels very “Nineteen Eighty-Four”.

4. Billie Eilish - “When we all fall asleep where do we go?” My brother was lucky enough o see her perform at prism at Kingston 2019 and gifted me her album, loved her vibe right away. Think as a young artist she is amazing. “Everything I wanted” released November 2019 felt quite real entering 2020 which isn’t on the album but needs a mention.

5. Grimes- Miss Anthropocene- I’ve been such a grime fan for many years and she released a lot of these tracks over last couple of years whilst she was working on the album and felt relevant to concepts today. The album was finally released in its entirety and I really like this album, but then again, I really like a lot of her music. Each track keeps to her style but each has a different flavour. It’s great because you can see she tries a lot of new things and grows as an artist but keeping to the things she is passionate for, which I think is literally everything for a creative.

Honourable mentions

Lofi, I have so many playlist I circle around on YouTube, things like chillhop, feardog, the jazzhop cafe and any Nintendo or Zelda lofi has been background music to my home for months.
I’m pretty sure my little one hear so much if it in the womb she settles to this chilled mood.

Also Akira the Dons wattswave is great!

I went through a period over last couple years listening to philosophical ideals from Alan watts and this combined with a wave  feel a combination of vibing with the tracks whilst taking away something mindful.

Lastly Gorillaz - Song machine, I’ve enjoyed seeing these gradually be released this year, Damien Alburn is a real talent and collaborating with so many different artist. The variation of tracks are really great!
